- Course Affiliation – Haryana State Pharmacy Council & IEC, Himchal University
- Course Duration – 2 yrs. / Mode – Regular / Annual Examination (Theory & Practical)
- Eligibility – Min. age 17 years at time of admission. Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or 10+2 exam in the science stream with 50% (Min. Aggregate)
- Required Subjects ( 10+2) – (PCM with Bio / PCB)
- Pharmacy Subjects – Pharmacy, Health Care, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmaceutics.
About D. Pharmacy Course
Pharmacy is a practical course designed to teach the candidates basic concepts of pharmaceutical science like: Safe and accurate processing of prescriptions, Dispensing and compounding of medicines. To be able to open and run a pharmacy store, D. Pharmacy course is essential requirement.
Diploma in Pharmacy includes fundamentals of the application of chemistry in the pharmacy industry, theoretical & practical concepts of biochemistry, pharmacology and toxicology. It helps students to study about different chemical salts, their application and uses in medicine. The programme holds fine significance in the pharmaceutical industry.
CAREER/JOB AFTER D. PHARMA
- Work in chemist shops or retail stores of medicines.
- Start own private drug store or chemist shop and sell medicines as per doctor’s prescription after registrations with state pharmacy council.
- Start wholesale business or open surgical items shop.
- Apart from Community pharmacies D. Pharmacy candidates can work in hospitals, clinics, extended care facilities, psychiatric hospitals, and regulatory agencies.
- Work at drug stores in Government hospitals, private hospitals or private drug stores.
- Pharmaceutical companies are also known to hire D. Pharma candidates. In this sector, they may work at various divisions like- manufacturing, process control, quality control and marketing.
- Work as a Medical representative Sales and marketing. Pharmaceutical companies hire maximum number of Pharmacist,
- After completing D Pharma course, one may also go for further studies (B. Pharmacy, Pharma D, M. Pharma etc). one can directly apply for 2nd year of B. Pharmacy. Thereafter, one can also pursue PG Degrees. After completing Master’s level course, one may take up the job of a lecturer/tutor/instructor at relevant pharmacy college, institutes or university. Completing advanced course like PhD will help one build a career in the R&D (Research and Development) sector associated with the field of pharmacy.
- Another interesting future for your career can be degree in Law after D. Pharmacy. Many pharmaceutical companies hire Litigation and IPR (Intellectual property) lawyers. In general there are various posts available for Pharmacist in India.
